Located at the California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB), the Firetide Mobility Test Track is the world’s first and only permanent outdoor wireless mesh networking facility to support research, development, and testing of new mobile communications infrastructures.

This facility includes a separate mesh network operating as a high-speed backhaul for the entire facility plus multiple mobile mesh networks for testing mobile infrastructure designs for mass transportation, industrial transport systems, and public safety vehicles.
The Firetide Mobility Test Track is part of an industry and academic partnership with Firetide and the university in which Firetide provides an annual grant to the CSUMB Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT) Department plus mentoring and professional-level educational opportunities for university students.
