Introduction to Wireless System Basics
This free online training course introduces you to 802.11 Wireless LAN standards and related US FCC radio frequency allocations. In addition, it covers modulation, antennas, and the wireless time domain. Please be aware that this course must be accessed using a Flash capable computer with audio capability. Since detailed explanations of the slide content are in audio format, having sound capability is required for this course.
Successful completion of this course is a pre-requisite for those persons planning to enroll in any instructor led Firetide Certification training course.

Dynamic Frequency Selection Certification Training Course
This free online training course explains what dynamic frequency selection (DFS) is and how it works. It also covers FCC requirements for legal operation of any system utilizing frequency channels in which DFS is required, as well as how to properly configure DFS parameters for Firetide equipment supporting DFS frequencies. Access to DFS frequencies is now limited to professional installers who have been certified as required by the FCC. Please be aware that this course must be accessed using a Flash capable computer. Computer audio is not required for this course.

Classroom Training Descriptions
FCMP (Firetide Certified Mesh Professional)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of “Introduction to Wireless System Basics” and “Firetide DFS Certification Training” (both prerequisite classes are free online)
This 3-day course provides essential information to configure and troubleshoot Firetide HotPort wireless mesh networks. You will receive in-depth knowledge about HotView Pro Network Management Software and leave with a solid foundation on how to successfully configure and administer a HotPort mesh network. The course includes extensive hands on experience with Firetide equipment utilizing the latest HotView interface. All labs are designed to reinforce topics learned in the class session.
In addition, the FCMP course provides essential information for understanding the physics behind Radio Frequency (RF), the tools used in planning a wireless network communications path, and information used to design and deploy a successful Firetide HotPort mesh network. This course provides hands on exposure to Firetide products, as well as the use of RF tools to analyze and understand the workings of a successfully deployed mesh link. Class size is limited to 12 students.

FCWE (Firetide Certified Wireless Engineer)
Prerequisite: Successful completion of “Introduction to Wireless System Basics” and “Firetide DFS Certification Training” (both prerequisite classes are free online)
This 4-day professional certification course provides a comprehensive overview of the fundamentals of RF theory and training on Firetide indoor and outdoor wireless networking products. In addition to classroom sessions, the course includes numerous hands-on labs covering proper wireless network design, network configuration and management, outdoor installation, and RF testing. Eighty percent of the course will be conducted in an outdoor environment where students will design, install and test a working 5 km, multi-hop outdoor mesh network.
Students who successfully complete this course will receive certifications that qualify them to provide Firetide authorized professional design, configuration, and installation services for Firetide indoor and outdoor wireless infrastructure mesh networks.
